Description

The Rania is a cylinder pendant light with a white cream fabric shade, hung from a matt black iron structure on a textile cable. A grid of fine seams runs across the fabric, giving the plain cylindrical drum a quiet, tailored look. It takes one E27 lamp and works on simple on-off switching. It comes in three sizes: the 18cm size has a shade 18cm across and 25cm tall, the 28cm size has a shade 28cm across and 40cm tall, and the 38cm size has a shade 38cm across and 50cm tall. Every size hangs on a 1.5m cable from a 12cm canopy.

We think of it as an easy everyday light. When lit, the fabric glows softly, so it suits a dining table, a bedroom, a living room corner, a study or a hallway. The 18cm size is neat enough to hang over a bedside table or a desk, the 28cm size is a good middle choice for a smaller dining table, and the 38cm size has the presence to hang alone over a larger table or in a hallway with good ceiling height. Its clean, simple lines sit well in modern and Scandinavian rooms. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron in a matt black finish, with a black canopy and stem, and the textile cable gives a crisp dark line down to the white cream drum. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. Its control is on-off switching, so pick a lamp whose brightness suits the room. For styling, we like the three sizes hung together at staggered heights over a long dining table, or two of the same size either side of a bed.
