The Ralph is a woven outdoor pendant light: a single shade on a slim cable that brings a warm, textured glow to the places where you sit outside. The shade is 35cm across and 25cm tall, a gently tapered drum of open basketwork that lets the light through its weave. It comes in Metallic Brown, a deep brown with a metallic sheen that sits comfortably against timber, stone and planting. It takes one E27 bulb, sold separately and not included, and that bulb is its light source, so you choose the brightness and warmth yourself.

Rated IP65, it is made for outdoor use, so it can hang over a patio table, beneath a pergola, on a covered terrace or in the garden where you eat on summer evenings. Indoors it suits a dining room or a living room, hung over a table or in a corner that wants a softer texture than a glass or metal shade gives. It is a plug-in pendant running on 230V mains power, so it can hang wherever you have a socket nearby, with no ceiling light point needed. Hang one over a small bistro table, or several in a line along a longer table.

The weave is the heart of the design, an even, open basketwork that lets the bulb's glow pass softly between its strands. The pendant hangs from a canopy 10.5cm across, neat and unobtrusive. It is a Class II fitting, which means it is double insulated. Its IP65 rating means it is protected against dust and against jets of water, so a summer shower is no reason to bring it indoors. When you choose the bulb, a warm white tone keeps the glow gentle on a terrace at night, and an LED one keeps running costs low. It has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket. Outdoors, the plug and the adaptor must sit in a covered, weatherproof outdoor socket.
