Description

The Raisa is a modern fabric drum pendant light built around a long, slim arm in matt black. A straight rod drops from a 10cm ceiling canopy to a horizontal arm. The white fabric drum shade hangs from one end of that arm and a small counterweight sits at the other, so the light lands to one side of the ceiling point rather than beneath it. The fitting is 75cm tall. The drum is a 45cm shade standing 20cm high, a generous size, and its fabric gives a soft, shaded light. It has one E27 lamp holder, the standard large screw cap that most household bulbs use.

Because the shade hangs out on the arm, the Raisa suits a spot where the light needs to land away from the ceiling point. We like it over a dining table, above a desk, or beside a reading chair in a living room or bedroom. The textile cable runs in a loose loop from the end of the arm up to the canopy, left on view as part of the design. Its modern, pared back lines sit comfortably with natural wood, plain plaster walls and soft neutral colours, and the black frame draws a clean, graphic line against a pale ceiling. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron, finished in matt black, with a fabric shade and 1.5m of textile cable. It runs on 220-240V mains and is an on-off fitting, switched rather than dimmed, so it works from an ordinary light switch. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. Over a long table, the drum and its fine black arm draw the eye across the room, and a warm white bulb keeps the white shade glowing softly against wood and plaster.
