Description

The Rafaela is a single-light LED drum pendant in matt black and polished brass, and we love its clean, quiet lines. A shallow matt black drum hangs from a slim polished brass stem, with a methacrylate diffuser across its underside that spreads the light softly downwards over a wide 120° beam. The light source is integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 11.8W and gives 1520 lumens, and with a CRI of 90 or above, colours, wood and fabrics look true beneath it. It comes in two colour temperatures, 3000K or 2700K: 3000K is a soft warm white, while 2700K is a touch warmer and cosier, much like the glow of a traditional bulb.

Hung on its 1.5m cable from a black ceiling canopy, it suits a dining table, a hallway or a reading corner, and it works well beside the bed in place of a table lamp. Its modern, Scandinavian look sits comfortably in a pared-back interior, and the brass stem adds a warm note to a darker scheme. A pair or a row over a long dining table gives an even spread of light. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron and brass, with an aluminium head and a methacrylate diffuser. Control is by DALI, so it needs a DALI control system or DALI dimmer to dim, and it runs on 220-240V. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, the polished brass stem looks its best alongside other brass details, such as cabinet handles or a mirror frame, while the matt black drum gives it a crisp outline against a pale wall.
