Description

The Quinn is an outdoor wall lantern in solid brass with a Raw Brass finish. A goose-neck arm curves out from a round wall plate and down into a flared hood, beneath which hangs a clear ribbed glass dome with no cage over it. It is 17cm wide and 30cm tall, standing 22cm from the wall on a 10cm wall plate, a size that suits a front door without crowding it, and it weighs 2.6KG. It is rated IP64: dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it can stay outdoors through British weather in every season.

This is a lantern for the outside of a house: either side of a front door, inside a porch, along a garden wall, on the face of a gatepost or above the door of a boathouse. The maker describes it as designed for outdoor places that call for an industrial or nautical look, and says the maritime influence shows in the materials, designs and even the names of its range. The goose-neck arm and ribbed glass have the plain, working character of a harbour light, so it is at home on a seaside cottage, though it suits a farmhouse or a brick townhouse too.

Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so the bright golden tone of a new Quinn will deepen over the seasons into a softer, aged colour.
