The Quenford pendant in its smallest size keeps the ribbed clear glass shade and bright nickel metalwork in a neat 210mm form, easy to use singly or in a run. The drop adjusts from 470mm to 1575mm, so it can hang low over a bar or higher in a walkway. One E27 screw fit lamp rated at 10W lights the shade, and the vertical ribbing softens the look of the lamp while keeping the glass bright and open. With a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer switch it comes down to a low, comfortable level.

Small shades work best in multiples, so this is the Quenford to hang in twos or threes along a breakfast bar or a kitchen island where you want light without a heavy line of glass overhead. Used alone it suits a hallway, a landing, a bedside or a study desk. The ribbing gives a little texture at close quarters, which shows more on a small shade than a large one, and bright nickel keeps it in step with chrome, stainless steel and cooler paint colours. It suits anyone after modest, well proportioned ceiling lights rather than one large centrepiece.

The shade is ribbed clear glass and the frame and ceiling plate are metal in a bright nickel finish. For care, switch off at the wall, let the lamp cool, then run a soft dry cloth or a clean dry brush along the ribs, since dust settles in the grooves, and wipe the metal with a barely damp cloth before drying it.
