Description
The Quasar is a single-bulb outdoor wall light with a tapered cone body in powder-coated brown die-cast aluminium, fitted with a sandblasted tempered glass lens at the front aperture. The body mounts flush to the wall on a circular backplate and houses a GU10 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately). The IP43 rating protects against dust ingress and light water spray from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, under-eave positions, and other sheltered exterior walls.
Designed for residential entrances, garden walls, and patio seating areas where directed downlight or angled wash light is needed, the Quasar casts a wide beam pool through the sandblasted glass. The 115mm width and 95mm projection suit standard door surrounds and garden wall installations without overwhelming the architectural line. The brown finish pairs with warm-toned brickwork, timber cladding, and terracotta surfaces, blending into garden and countryside settings rather than standing out against them.
The die-cast aluminium construction gives the fitting structural rigidity and corrosion resistance in outdoor conditions, while the powder-coated finish resists UV degradation and colour fade over time. The sandblasted glass diffuses the direct bulb glare and softens the beam edges, reducing harsh shadows on steps or pathways. The fitting accepts any GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to the maximum wattage specified in the table below, and is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable GU10 bulb.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take and is it included?
The Quasar takes a single GU10 bulb up to the maximum wattage shown in the specification. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white GU10 LED between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for porch and pathway lighting.
Can it be used in exposed outdoor positions?
The IP43 rating protects against dust and light water spray, but the fitting is designed for sheltered outdoor use rather than fully exposed positions. It suits covered porches, under-eave mounting, and garden walls with overhead protection. For fully exposed positions subject to heavy rain or direct hose spray, a higher IP rating (IP54 or above) would be more appropriate.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, the fitting is dimmable when used with a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable GU10 bulb. Standard non-dimmable GU10 LEDs will not dim and may flicker on a dimmer circuit.
What angle does the light project at?
The tapered cone shape directs light primarily downwards and forwards from the wall. The exact beam angle depends on the GU10 bulb chosen — most GU10 LEDs offer either a narrow 25-40° beam or a wider 60-100° flood beam. The sandblasted glass diffuses the beam edges regardless of bulb choice.
