Description

The QTX disco ball motor is a 230V mains-powered rotator designed to support mirror balls up to 3kg, rotating at a fixed 1.5rpm speed. The motor housing measures 113mm in diameter and 55mm in height, with a black plastic casing that conceals the gearbox and minimises operating noise during use.

Designed for home parties, function rooms, mobile DJs and small venues where a rotating mirror ball is needed, the motor comes with a 15cm steel chain, fixing screws for ceiling mounting, and a 0.6m captive mains cable terminating in a UK 13A plug. The 1.5rpm rotation speed provides a steady sweep of reflected light without the faster, more aggressive spin associated with club-grade motors.

The motor draws 4W on 230Vac 50Hz mains and weighs 400g unloaded, which means it can be ceiling-mounted on standard plasterboard using appropriate fixings without needing additional support. The low noise gearbox makes it suitable for smaller rooms where motor hum would otherwise be intrusive. The 3kg load capacity accommodates most home and mobile DJ mirror balls between 200mm and 300mm diameter.

Frequently Asked

What size mirror ball can this motor support?

The motor is rated to 3kg maximum load, which accommodates most mirror balls between 200mm and 300mm diameter. Larger balls may exceed the weight capacity or place excessive stress on the gearbox.

How is the motor mounted to the ceiling?

The motor includes fixing screws for ceiling mounting. On plasterboard ceilings, use appropriate plasterboard fixings rated for the combined weight of motor (400g) plus mirror ball. On solid ceilings, standard wood screws or masonry fixings can be used.

How noisy is the motor during operation?

The motor is described as 'low noise', meaning the gearbox hum is minimised compared to cheaper variants. It is audible in a quiet room but typically inaudible once music is playing at moderate volume.

Can the rotation speed be adjusted?

No. The motor rotates at a fixed 1.5rpm. Speed adjustment would require a separate dimmer or speed controller, which is not recommended as it may damage the motor or void warranty.
