Description

A square cushion cover 50 by 50cm, made in two pieces joined by a seam about a third of the way down. The upper band is a flat plain-woven linen in a soft grey-beige, open enough to see the weave and slubbed where the hand-spun yarn thickens. Below it the weave changes: a heavy off-white weft is laid in raised rows that stand proud of the ground, so the lower two-thirds reads as a ridged, nubbly surface with the darker warp showing between the rows. A narrow self-piped seam runs round the edge.

At 50 by 50cm this is the square size, and the Puli cover is also made at 60 by 40cm. The two weaves are not symmetrical, so the cover reads differently depending on which way up it sits, with the plain band at the top or at the bottom.

The linen is recycled and hand spun from reclaimed yarn, so the thickness of the thread and the depth of the ridges vary from cover to cover. Linen breathes and wears well, and the colour may lighten where it sits in direct sunlight. The Puli range also holds a throw in the same linen. This is the outer cover only, and the inner is not included.
