Description
The PowerMaster IP44 oval bulkhead is a wall-mounted utility light with a black polypropylene base, a prismatic glass lens and a protective metal cage. The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and runs on 220-240V mains. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for external walls, garages, sheds, covered porches and bathroom zones 1-3.
Designed for outdoor and semi-outdoor applications where functional light is needed with impact protection, the bulkhead mounts to a standard round or square back box using two fixing points. The protective cage prevents direct contact with the glass lens and reduces the risk of breakage from accidental knocks or impacts in narrow walkways, garage doorways and utility areas. The oval lens measures 125mm wide by 183mm deep including the cage projection, giving a compact footprint on the wall.
The prismatic glass lens diffuses light in all directions rather than projecting a focused beam, providing general illumination over a 2-3m radius depending on bulb wattage and colour temperature. The black polypropylene base is impact-resistant and UV-stable, maintaining its colour in direct sunlight without fading to grey. The fitting is not dimmable. Pair with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W for typical outdoor use, or a higher-wattage bulb up to 60W where brighter task light is needed.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean and where can it be used?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against splashing water from any direction. It can be used on external walls, in covered porches, garages, sheds, and bathroom zones 1-3. It cannot be used in Zone 0 (inside a bath or shower enclosure).
What bulb does it take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W for outdoor use.
Is the glass lens replaceable if broken?
The prismatic glass lens is a separate component held in place by the protective cage. Replacement lenses for PowerMaster bulkheads are available — contact us for availability.
How is it mounted?
The bulkhead mounts to a standard round or square back box using two fixing points on the rear of the polypropylene base. The back box should be sealed against the wall to maintain the IP44 rating.
