Description

The PowerMaster 16W LED bulkhead gear tray is a 243mm circular aluminium PCB carrying 16W of integrated LED chips, with built-in CCT switching between 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white and 6500K daylight. An integrated microwave motion sensor sits on the PCB surface and triggers the LEDs when motion is detected, providing automatic hands-free control in utility rooms, corridors, storerooms and commercial back-of-house spaces.

Designed as a replacement or upgrade component for existing circular bulkhead housings, the gear tray clips or screws into place inside the fitting's rear housing, connecting to mains via quick-fit push terminals that accept 3-way or 4-way wiring. The microwave sensor operates through most non-metallic bulkhead diffusers, so the tray can retrofit into opaque, frosted or clear polycarbonate housings without line-of-sight requirements. The 120-degree beam angle spreads light evenly across the diffuser surface.

The 1,725lm output at 16W gives an efficacy of 107 lumens per watt, paired with a CRI above 80 for reasonable colour rendering in functional spaces. The flicker-free isolated driver technology sits on the same PCB as the LEDs, keeping the installation compact. The aluminium board dissipates heat effectively across the operating range of -10°C to +40°C, making the tray suitable for unheated garages, plant rooms and external covered locations where the bulkhead housing provides IP-rated protection.

The CCT switching is set via a small switch on the PCB before installation — once the diffuser is fitted and power is connected, the selected colour temperature remains fixed until the unit is opened again. This allows one SKU to serve multiple applications: 3000K for residential circulation spaces, 4000K for office and retail back-of-house, 6500K for workshop and maintenance areas.

How is the CCT colour temperature changed?

A small switch on the PCB surface toggles between 3000K, 4000K and 6500K. The selection is made before the diffuser is fitted and remains fixed once the bulkhead is sealed and powered. Changing the setting later requires opening the fitting and accessing the PCB.

Does the microwave sensor work through the bulkhead diffuser?

Yes. Microwave motion sensors operate through most non-metallic materials including polycarbonate, acrylic and frosted plastic diffusers. This allows the gear tray to retrofit into existing opaque bulkhead housings without needing a clear lens or line-of-sight to the sensor.

What bulkhead housing does this fit?

The 243mm diameter suits most standard circular bulkheads rated for 16-18W gear trays. Check the internal diameter of the existing housing before ordering — the tray requires approximately 245-250mm clearance to sit flush inside the rear housing.

Can it be used outdoors?

The gear tray itself is rated IP20, so it must be installed inside a bulkhead housing that provides the required IP rating for the location. When fitted into an IP65 bulkhead housing, the complete assembly is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as canopies, porches and external corridors.
