15W CCT Adjustable Microwave Sensor Bulkhead Gear Tray - White

A gear tray is the working half of a bulkhead: the round LED board and control gear that sit inside the fitting body. This one draws 15W, gives 1725 lumens and carries its own microwave sensor at the centre, so the light answers to movement with no separate detector to wire in. The LEDs sit in rings across the whole face, which spreads the output rather than concentrating it in one bright patch. Three whites come from the one tray, 3000K, 4000K and 6000K, and the pack states a 35,000 hour product life.

Gear trays are a repair part, so this suits anyone keeping an existing round bulkhead in service: communal corridors and stairwells, landings, garages, plant rooms and storerooms where a light is wanted on movement rather than left burning all day. Maintenance teams often buy the tray rather than a whole fitting, because the body, the fixings and the wiring stay where they are. Will this tray fit the bulkhead I already have?

It is a round tray for a standard bulkhead body, but the manufacturer does not publish a diameter, so measure your existing tray and its fixing slots before you order.

What do the three colour temperatures actually look like?

3000K is a warm yellow white for hallways and landings, 4000K is a neutral white for general work areas, and 6000K is a crisp blue white for stores and garages.

Can I run it from a dimmer switch?

No. The manufacturer lists it as non dimmable, so wire it to a plain switched supply or leave it permanently live and let the sensor do the switching.

How does a microwave sensor differ from a PIR?

Microwave detection responds to movement rather than body heat, so it is less affected by warm or cold air. Detection range and hold time are not published by the manufacturer.

Can the LEDs be replaced on their own if one fails?

No. The LEDs are surface mounted onto the board as one integrated unit, so the gear tray itself is the replacement part rather than any individual lamp.
