Description

The Platet S/20 is a pendant light with a shallow cone of a shade, 20cm across, rising to a slim cylindrical neck on a dark stem. The body is 24cm tall and the drop runs from 34cm to 200cm, so it can hang low over a surface or higher under a tall ceiling. It is made from aluminium, brass and iron, and the shade comes in eight colours: Olive Grey, Light Grey, Terracotta, Black, Antique Brass, White, Textured Grey Blue and Textured Sand Yellow. You choose an integrated LED, which needs no bulb, or a version that takes one E14 bulb of up to 9W, with the bulb not included.

The integrated LED versions give 323 lumens from 4.2W at 2700K, a warm white, with a CRI of 90, so food, wood and fabrics keep their true colour. That suits a dining room, with one hung over a small dining table or several in a row along a longer one, and a living room, over a reading chair or a side table. There are two dimmable versions, LED, 0-10V dimmable and LED, TRIAC dimmable, and each needs a compatible dimmer. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The design is by Christophe Mathieu, and it keeps to plain, familiar lines: a cone, a neck and a fine stem. Every version shares the same 20cm shade, so you can mix colours in a row over a dining table and keep the outline matching. It comes with your choice of the Surface canopy or the Recessed canopy, with canopy diameters of 14cm and 12cm. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician. Before you order, settle the shade colour, the light source and the canopy, and measure the height you want it to hang at within its drop of 34cm to 200cm.
