Description
The Pires is a round bulkhead light built around a single E27 lampholder rated to a maximum of 60W, running on a standard 220-240V AC mains supply. It takes your choice of GLS, CFL or LED bulb, so the brightness and colour temperature follow the lamp you fit rather than being fixed in the fitting. Across the Atlantic this style of enclosed wall fitting is sold as an outdoor wall pack or wall sconce, and the Pires answers the same brief in a neat 280mm diameter disc that throws a soft, even spread of light across the surface in front of it.
The Pires suits porches, covered entrances, carports and stairwells, as well as utility spaces such as garages, sheds and hallways where a robust, no-fuss fitting matters more than decorative detail. Its splash-resistant IP44 rating means it is also at home in bathroom zones away from direct spray. Rather than acting as the main ambient source for a large room, it works best as a doorway, corridor or threshold light, marking and lighting the area immediately around it. Pair two or more along a passage or run of steps for consistent coverage where a single fixture would leave gaps.
The body and diffuser are moulded in durable plastic with a clean white finish that sits well on brick, render or plaster. The IP44 rating makes it splash-resistant and suited to sheltered outdoor and damp indoor spots, though it should be kept clear of fully exposed positions, direct water jets and submersion. It mounts directly to a wall or ceiling, and the dimming behaviour depends on the bulb you choose. Other E27 and bulkhead options sit alongside it in our wider Pires range.

Frequently Asked
Can the Pires be used outdoors?
Yes, in sheltered positions. Its IP44 rating makes it splash-resistant, so it suits porches, carports and covered entrances. Keep it out of fully exposed spots, direct water jets and any standing water.
Is a bulb included?
No, the Pires is supplied without a bulb. It takes a single E27 (ES) lamp up to a maximum of 60W, and you can fit a GLS, CFL or LED bulb to suit the brightness and colour temperature you want.
Where is it typically used?
It is well suited to porches, hallways, stairwells, garages, sheds and bathroom zones away from direct spray. The round 280mm form gives a soft, even spread, making it a practical doorway and corridor light.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Wipe the white plastic diffuser and body with a soft, damp cloth and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could dull the surface. Switch off the supply first and make sure the fitting is dry before restoring power.
