Description

This compact PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor switches connected lighting on automatically when it detects movement nearby. Decoded from the ALER MINI-B reference, it is a small 80mm unit (80 × 80 × 67 mm) in a black plastic housing, wired to a 220-240V AC mains supply. Use it to control luminaires in entrances, hallways, landings, garages and stairwells, so lights come on as someone arrives and switch off again after a set delay.

Rated IP44, it copes with splashes and sheltered positions, making it suitable indoors or under a porch or canopy rather than in fully exposed, direct-jet locations. The black finish keeps it discreet against darker walls and fascias. We also stock other PIR motion and daylight sensors to suit different detection ranges and mounting positions.

It detects body heat moving across its field of view, giving reliable coverage for a typical doorway, hallway or stairwell. Position it so the area you want switched falls within its sweep, and mount it at the height advised in the supplied instructions for the best results.

What load can it switch?

Check the maximum load printed on the unit and in the supplied data before wiring, and keep the connected lighting within that rating. Pairing it with LED luminaires usually leaves plenty of headroom, as their power draw is low.

Can I adjust the time and light-level settings?

Yes. The sensor typically offers adjustable on-time and a daylight (lux) threshold, so it can be set to hold the light on for a chosen period and to ignore movement when there is already enough natural light.

Can it be used outdoors?

It is rated IP44, so it handles splashes and sheltered outdoor spots such as a porch or covered entrance. Keep it clear of fully exposed positions and direct water jets, which exceed an IP44 rating.
