Description

This is a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor decoded from the article ZONA JQ-37-B/B as the black, IP20 version of the JQ-37 part. It runs on a 220-240V AC supply and acts as an automatic switch, detecting body heat moving across its field and turning the wired lighting load on, then off again after a set delay. The round housing measures Ø115 × 55 mm in black plastic, making it a tidy surface-mounted control for hallways, landings, stairwells and entrances.

Being rated IP20, this unit is for dry indoor positions only and should be kept clear of direct splashing or exposed outdoor sites. It wires in line between the mains and the fitting it controls, so the connected luminaire responds automatically rather than via a manual switch. We also stock a range of other motion and daylight sensors to suit both indoor and weatherproof outdoor locations.

Frequently Asked

What is the detection range and angle?

This PIR senses body heat moving across its field of view, switching the connected lighting on automatically. Position it so the area you want covered falls within its line of sight, as it works best detecting movement across the beam rather than straight towards it.

What load can it switch?

It runs on a 220-240V AC supply and switches the lighting wired to its output. Check the connected fitting's wattage against the sensor's rated switching capacity before installing, and keep the total load within that limit.

Can the time and light level be adjusted?

PIR sensors of this type typically include adjustable settings so you can set how long the light stays on after the last movement and the ambient light level at which it activates. This lets you stop it triggering in daylight and tune the hold time to suit the space.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. With an IP20 rating it is suitable for dry indoor locations only, such as hallways, stairwells and entrance areas. For exposed or damp positions, choose a weatherproof IP65 or higher sensor instead.
