Description
The Piper is a five-tier crystal chandelier from Kichler with 18 E14 bulb fittings distributed across 565mm diameter tiers, each ringed with vertical glass rods and crystal beads on a polished chrome frame. The fitting stands 1772mm tall from canopy to lowest droplet and is designed for suspension on a chain adjustable between 1881mm and 3756mm total drop.
Built for high-ceilinged entrance halls, split-level living spaces and dining rooms with ceiling heights above 3m, the Piper requires significant vertical clearance. The five-tier structure creates a cascading effect where light from each tier reflects through the glass rods and crystal accents below it, multiplying the reflections across the room. Each tier supports between 3-4 E14 fittings (bulbs sold separately), allowing the chandelier to be fitted with a mix of wattages or colour temperatures if preferred.
The polished chrome frame gives a mirrored finish that reflects surrounding colours and light sources, making the chandelier respond to changes in daylight and artificial light throughout the day. The glass rods are cut with linear facets that refract passing light into spectrum colours when positioned near windows or under direct downlighting. The crystal beads at the base of each tier add weight to the structure and catch light from below when the chandelier is lit, creating secondary sparkle points across the lower tiers.
At 565mm diameter the fitting requires a minimum of 1.5m clear space around it to avoid visual crowding when viewed from below. The 1829mm adjustable chain allows the chandelier to be set at different heights depending on the ceiling structure and the intended clearance below. The polished chrome canopy measures approximately 120mm diameter and conceals the ceiling rose and cable entry point.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling height is needed for the Piper?
The minimum drop of 1881mm plus the 1772mm fitting height totals 3653mm, so ceiling heights above 3.7m are needed for the chandelier to hang at its shortest setting with reasonable clearance below. Higher ceilings up to 5.5m can use the maximum 3756mm drop to position the chandelier at the preferred height above a table or floor level.
What bulbs does it take?
The Piper takes 18 E14 small Edison screw bulbs, maximum 60W per fitting. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to avoid excessive glare from the crystal and glass reflections.
Can the chain length be shortened?
Yes. The 1829mm chain can be shortened during installation by removing links to achieve the desired drop. The excess chain is typically coiled inside the canopy or ceiling void.
How is the crystal maintained?
The glass rods and crystal beads collect dust over time. Clean with a dry microfibre cloth or a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto the fitting as it can drip onto the chrome frame and leave watermarks. For deep cleaning, individual crystals and rods can be removed and washed separately, then dried before re-hanging.
