Description

Twelve small paper eggs, each 3cm across, hung on fine white threads. Each egg is built from sheets of recycled cotton paper pasted together in a honeycomb pattern, then expanded and pressed into shape, so the sides carry pleats that run from top to bottom. The set carries both the natural tone of the paper and a dark moss green.

Each egg opens out into its rounded shape and closes again, with small magnets holding it shut. At 3cm they are small, and twelve hung together from a branch at staggered heights read as one piece rather than as twelve separate ones. The threads are cut to different lengths, so hung on a branch the eggs fall at different heights down it.

The paper is recycled cotton paper. Sheets are printed or coated first to give them strength, then layered and pasted in a set pattern to build the honeycomb core. The pressed pads are die cut and sliced into two matching halves before the final shaping and trimming, which is where the seam round the middle of each egg comes from. Piani also runs a larger decoration in sets of four, in moss green and in cream.

Frequently Asked

How many eggs are in a set?

Twelve.

How big is each one?

3cm.

Do they open?

Yes. Each egg opens out and small magnets hold it shut again.

What are they made from?

Recycled cotton paper.

How do I look after them?

Open and close each egg gently, because the paper is fragile. The eggs contain small magnets, which can do harm if they are swallowed or inhaled, so keep them away from children and pets. This is not a toy.
