Description
The Pharos is a compact outdoor up and down wall light made of solid brass in an antique brass finish. Its body is a rounded cylinder with a flat back, set on a slim rectangular wall plate, and it sends light both up and down the wall. The finish is a deep, mottled brown with warmer brass glinting at the edges, and the maker describes the body as having an aged, original-looking finish. It is 8.8cm wide and 13.2cm tall, standing 7.5cm from the wall, and it weighs 0.8KG. IP44 means it is protected against splashing water from any direction and against solid objects larger than 1mm, so it can live on an outside wall through British weather.
Being compact, the Pharos suits spots where a larger lantern would crowd the wall: beside a front door, either side of a porch, along a garden wall or on a boathouse. With light going both up and down, each one throws a soft glow above and below, and a pair either side of a door frames the entrance. The plain cylinder looks at home on modern render as much as on old brick, and the maker says its wall lights are designed for outdoor places where an industrial or nautical effect is wanted. The maker also says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names.
The body is solid brass, and the maker tells us the antique finish starts life as raw brass. Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the colour to deepen over the years. The cable comes in through the rear wall plate, and the maker describes the light as heavy duty and built to last. It takes two GU10 lamps at 6W maximum, and the lamps are not included, so pick up a pair when you order. As a mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked
Can the Pharos go on an outside wall?
Yes. It is rated IP44, which means protection against splashing water from any direction, so it suits an outside wall by a front door, a porch or a garden wall.
Could I use this wall light in a bathroom?
Its IP44 rating means it may be suggested for a bathroom, and a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone for it in your room.
What lamps does the Pharos take?
It takes two GU10 lamps at 6W maximum. The lamps are not included, so you will need to buy a pair separately.
How big is the Pharos wall light?
It is 8.8cm wide and 13.2cm tall and stands 7.5cm from the wall, weighing 0.8KG, so it is a small, neat light for a narrow space.
Will the antique brass finish change outdoors?
Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so the antique brass finish will gradually deepen over time. The maker says the antique finish starts life as raw brass.
How is the cable brought into the light?
The cable enters through the rear wall plate, and the maker describes this as a cable gland entry through the mounting plate.
