Petra 1 Light Glass Pendant - Transparent Smoked Chrome

The Petra is a 27cm single-light glass pendant with a faceted transparent smoked shade suspended from a polished chrome canopy on an adjustable cable. The shade is moulded with an irregular, rock-like surface that refracts light through multiple angled planes, creating scattered reflections across the glass and onto surrounding surfaces. A single E27 bulb sits inside the shade (sold separately), visible through the transparent glass.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallways where a compact pendant provides both task and decorative lighting, the Petra works as a single installation above a small dining table or in multiples spaced 60-80cm apart along a kitchen island. The adjustable drop ranges from 40cm minimum to 150cm maximum, allowing the pendant to be positioned 70-80cm above a worktop or dining surface in rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings or higher. The chrome canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses.

The smoked glass has a subtle grey tint that softens light output compared to clear glass, reducing glare when the bulb is visible from typical viewing angles. The faceted surface is moulded rather than hand-cut, giving consistent geometry between pieces while maintaining the visual texture of carved crystal. At 1.66kg the pendant has enough mass to hang steadily without swaying under airflow from open windows or ventilation.

The IP20 rating restricts the Petra to dry indoor locations — kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms and hallways away from direct water contact. The Class 1 earthed construction requires connection to a standard UK earthed ceiling supply. Pair with a 6-10W warm-white LED filament bulb at 2700K for ambient lighting, or a 15-20W LED for higher task light output over a worktop.

What bulb does the Petra take?

The pendant uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED filament bulb at 2700K for ambient dining or kitchen island lighting.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Petra is only suitable for dry indoor locations away from direct water contact — kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms and hallways. It cannot be installed in bathrooms or other wet environments.

How is the drop adjusted?

The cable length is adjustable during installation from 40cm minimum to 150cm maximum. Once the pendant is wired and the canopy is fixed to the ceiling, the excess cable is concealed inside the canopy housing.

Can multiple Petra pendants be installed in a row?

Yes. The compact 27cm diameter allows multiple pendants to be spaced 60-80cm apart along a kitchen island or dining table without crowding the visual field. Each pendant requires its own ceiling supply point.
