Description

A quilted bedspread 220cm across and 240cm from head to foot, in a cotton and linen blend. The base is a soft cream and over it runs a small dense repeat, screen printed in a sage green only just darker, so the pattern reads as texture from across a room and resolves into a motif close up. The whole spread is quilted in long parallel channels, worked in Kantha running stitch by hand.

At 220 by 240cm it covers a double or a king bed with enough over each side to hang down. Turned back over the pillows, the reverse reads plainer than the printed face. It weighs 3.1kg and lies about a centimetre thick, so it goes over a duvet as a cover rather than under one.

The blend is cotton and linen, made in India. The print is put on by screen and the quilting is Kantha, a running stitch worked by hand across the whole spread, which is what gives the surface its channels and its slight unevenness. Peplu is also made at 220 by 140cm, and in rust as well as sage green.
