Description

Our Paula dinner plate is made of stoneware and finished in a reactive glaze in blue. It measures 26.5cm across and 2cm tall, which is a full dinner plate size with room for a main course and its sides. Fine speckles run all over the surface, and the blue deepens towards the rim before softening at the centre, so the plate looks gently mottled rather than flat and uniform. The rim rises only slightly, which keeps the profile low and the whole plate sitting close to the table.

This is a plate for everyday meals as much as for dinner with friends. Use it for weeknight suppers, Sunday roasts, pasta or a generous salad, at the dining table or the kitchen table alike. It goes in the microwave, so leftovers can be reheated on the plate itself, and in the oven, so the plates can sit in a low oven to warm before serving. Stoneware holds heat well, which makes warming the plates first worth doing. As a dinner plate it suits a family kitchen, a first home or a dining room laid for guests.

The plate is 100% stoneware with a reactive glaze finish, and at 0.86KG it feels solid and settled in the hand. It goes in the dishwasher as well as the microwave and the oven, so it can move from the oven to the table to the dishwasher without any special handling. A reactive glaze responds to the heat of the kiln, so the tone settles a little differently on every piece. The styling props shown are not included.
