Pasali Recycled Glass Baubles - Blue Smoke - Set of 4

A set of four round glass Christmas baubles, each 8cm across. The colour graduates down the sphere: a smoky blue under the cap, then a band of grey silver, and warm gold across the bottom third. The surface is mottled and pitted all over rather than smooth, so it reads as aged metal more than as glass until the light gets behind it. A domed metal cap and a ring close the top, and a rolled strip of undyed fabric is knotted through the ring.

Each one is 8cm in every direction. Hung along a bare branch with small lights behind them, the gold at the base takes up more of the light than the blue at the top. Against a plain background the pitting in the surface shows instead. They hang on a tree, in a garland or along a mantelpiece.

The glass is recycled and every bauble is blown by hand, then given its patina in layers, so the height at which the blue turns to gold varies from one to the next and the mottling never repeats. The ties are plain undyed fabric. Four come in a set.

How many are in a set?

Four, each 8cm across.

What colour are they?

They graduate from a smoky blue at the top through grey to gold at the base. No two run the change at the same height.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes, and each bauble is blown by hand before the patina is built up on it in layers.

Will the four match each other?

Not piece for piece. The patina is applied by hand, so the mottling and the point where the blue gives way to the gold differ on every bauble.

How do I look after them?

Take dust off with a dry soft cloth and handle them gently. Harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners will lift the finish. They are for indoor use.
