Description

A pair of candle holders in iron, each 15cm tall: a flat round foot with a hammered, wavy edge, a slim straight stem, and a deep tapering cup at the top that takes a dinner candle. Where the stem meets the cup a collar of thin brass wire is wound round and holds a spray of ochre glass leaves and clusters of small pale wooden beads. The metal is finished in a warm aged brass tone, pitted and uneven the whole way up.

The leaves are glass rather than metal, so with a candle lit they pass the light through instead of throwing it back, and the colour runs from pale yellow to deep amber across a single spray. At 15cm the pair stands low enough to leave a sightline clear across a laid table, and each takes 7cm of surface. The leaves sit at the top, level with the flame rather than below it.

The iron is forged by hand. Each glass leaf is tied onto the frame one at a time and the beads are threaded on brass wire, so the sprays fall differently on every holder. Two are supplied. Parili also runs as a glass wreath in two sizes. The candles are not included.

Frequently Asked

How many are supplied?

Two.

What candle do they take?

A dinner candle, in the cup at the top.

What are the leaves made of?

Glass, tied onto the frame one at a time. The beads are wood, threaded on thin brass wire.

How tall are they?

15cm, on a foot 7cm across.

How do I look after them?

Wash with a mild dish soap and warm water after each use and dry straight away, so wax does not build up. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish. Stand the candle securely, keep them out of reach of children, let them cool fully before handling, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
