Description

The Pambani is a portrait photo frame in aluminium, 21cm tall and 16cm wide, holding a 5 x 7 inch picture behind glass. The moulding is tiered rather than flat: an outer rounded ridge steps down into a shallow channel, and a second narrower ridge runs round the opening. The brass finish is pitted across the whole face, pale and almost silvered on the raised edges and warmer, close to copper, where it sits down in the channel.

It stands and it hangs. A folding wire strut is fitted to the back for standing, and the frame is made to be wall hung as well, so it can move from a shelf to a picture wall without a new fixing. The moulding is 2.5cm deep, so the frame stands that far proud of a wall.

The frame is aluminium and the front is glass. The finish is uneven across the moulding, so the tone and the small pits differ from one frame to the next. The Pambani is made in two sizes: this one takes a 5 x 7 inch picture and the larger takes an 8 x 10. A dark card sits behind the glass in place of a picture until one goes in.
