Description
The Ovila is a 32cm table lamp built around an egg-shaped ribbed glass shade in smoke black, set on a chrome-plated circular base. The vertical ribbing runs the full height of the glass oval, creating alternating ridges and channels that catch and diffuse light as the E27 bulb inside glows through the deep grey-toned glass.
Designed for side tables, bedside positions, console tables and shelving where ambient rather than task lighting is needed, the Ovila provides 870lm output at 20W when paired with a compatible E27 LED bulb (sold separately). The smoke glass filters the light to a softer, warmer tone than clear glass would allow, making it suitable for evening use in living rooms, bedrooms and studies without creating harsh glare. The 20cm diameter footprint fits standard side table surfaces without overwhelming them.
The ribbed surface creates a play of shadow and highlight across the glass when lit, giving the lamp a sculptural presence even when switched off. The chrome base adds a reflective metallic accent that works with both warm-toned and cooler grey interiors. At 2.1kg the lamp has enough weight to sit stable on surfaces without needing additional anchoring, and the IP20 rating confirms it is designed for dry indoor use only.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Ovila take?
The lamp uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 20W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K to complement the smoke glass tone.
How dark is the smoke glass when lit?
The smoke grey glass filters and softens the light output, creating a warmer, more diffused glow than clear glass. The ribbed surface scatters the light further, making this lamp suitable for ambient lighting rather than reading or close task work.
Is the glass fragile?
The ribbed glass shade is thicker than flat glass due to the moulding process, giving it reasonable durability for everyday handling. It should still be treated with care during installation and cleaning to avoid chipping the ridges.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating confirms the Ovila is designed for dry indoor locations only and is not rated for bathroom zones where moisture or steam may be present.
