Description

The Oviedo is a terracotta table lamp with an oval pebble-shaped base finished in a white glaze, paired with a grey fabric drum shade. The base is formed from hand-cast terracotta showing textured pitting and subtle veining across the surface, sealed under a smooth glaze that adds depth while preserving the tactile character of the underlying material. The lamp stands 53cm tall overall with the shade, which houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately).

Designed for side tables, bedside positions and console surfaces, the Oviedo suits contemporary and Scandinavian-style interiors where neutral tones and natural materials define the palette. The base measures 41cm wide by 14cm deep by 32cm high, with the grey shade adding a further 21cm of height and creating an overall footprint of 44cm wide by 21.5cm deep. The 130cm cable length allows the lamp to be placed 1-1.5m from the nearest wall socket without extension leads.

The terracotta base weighs 5.5kg, giving the lamp stability on narrow console tables and small bedside units without needing additional bracing. The white glaze softens the terracotta's natural warmth, producing a cooler neutral that pairs cleanly with greys, whites and natural wood tones. The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb between 2700K-3000K for ambient side lighting or bedside reading.

Is the shade included?

Yes. The Oviedo is sold complete with the grey fabric drum shade fitted. The shade is not removable for separate purchase.

How is the lamp switched on and off?

The lamp uses an inline toggle switch on the cable, approximately 30-40cm from the base. This allows the lamp to be switched without reaching behind furniture or unplugging at the wall socket.

Yes. Each base is hand-cast, so the pitting pattern, veining intensity and exact glaze tone differ slightly between individual lamps. This is characteristic of the production method, not a defect.
