Otoro Recycled Glass Wall Light - Green

The single Otoro wall light in green: a round brass plate fixed on two screws, one brass arm curving out and down, and a flattened round shade of green recycled glass on a ribbed brass collar. The green is a deep olive, thin enough to see the bulb through, and the shade is open at the bottom. It is 18cm tall, 14cm wide and stands 18cm out from the wall.

Coloured glass changes what the bulb does: the light comes through the olive warm rather than white, and the wall behind takes a soft green cast close in. It suits a hallway, a living space or the side of a bed. It takes one E14 bulb up to 25W, it works on a dimmer, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled, crushed and melted, coloured, then blown by hand into a mould, so the depth of the green and the marks in it differ from one shade to the next. The metalwork is aluminium under an antique brass finish. The Otoro range runs to nineteen pieces: round and oval shades in small and large, in clear, green, smoke and honey, plus a cluster pendant and four wall lights, of which this is the single in green.

Is a bulb included?

No. It takes one E14 bulb up to 25W.

Is the bulb visible through the green?

Yes. The glass is thin and the shade is open at the bottom, so the bulb shows through and the light comes out warm.

How does it compare with the clear one?

Same shade, same fittings, different glass. The green softens the light and warms it; the clear leaves the bulb to do the work as it is.

Can it go on a dimmer?

Yes.

How do I clean it?

Turn it off, then wipe the glass with a soft dry microfibre cloth, working in circles. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
