Otoro Small Round Recycled Glass Pendant Light - Smoke

The small round Otoro in smoke is a flattened sphere 31cm across and 21cm tall, closed all round apart from a small opening at the top and a flat circular foot underneath. The glass is a cool grey, lighter here than on the large round because there is less of it to look through. A brass collar caps the opening and the lampholder hangs inside it, in view through the tint. A brass chain runs up beside a rust coloured fabric flex.

This is the round shape at its most usable size. At 31cm across it covers a table without dominating the room above it, and at 21cm tall it sits high enough to clear a head at a low ceiling. Lit, the grey warms to bronze and the bulb reads as a point inside it. A dining table, a hallway or a living room takes it, singly or in a pair. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, it is dimmable, the flex runs 1.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled and blown by hand into a mould, so the depth of the smoke and the wall thickness change from one shade to the next. The frame and fittings are iron with a brass collar at the neck. The Otoro range runs to nineteen pieces: round and oval shades in small and large, in clear, green, smoke and honey, plus a cluster pendant and four wall lights. Bulbs are not included.

Instruction Manual (PDF)

What does smoke look like when it is lit?

Warmer than it looks switched off. Unlit the glass is a cool grey; with the bulb on the tint reads bronze brown and the bulb shows through it.

Is the chain brass or black?

Brass, with a rust coloured fabric flex, the same as the clear shades. Only the green shades use a black chain.

How is it different from the large round?

The large is 45cm across and 32cm tall against 31cm and 21cm here, and 5.9kg against 2.69kg.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulb cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth in a circular motion. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
