Otoro Small Oval Recycled Glass Pendant Light - Green

The small oval Otoro in green is a tall egg of glass 30cm long and 20.5cm across, narrow at the top where a brass collar caps it, widest below the middle, and drawing in again to an open rim at the bottom. The glass is tinted a soft smoky green that deepens down the body as the wall thickens. A black chain runs up from the collar to a black ceiling rose 14cm across.

The oval is the narrow shape in the range, and at 20.5cm across it is built for repeating: three over a kitchen island or a long table sit close without crowding, and a pair either side of a bed hangs at reading height without taking the space a wider shade would. The bulb shows through the tint and the open rim sends light straight down. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, it is dimmable, the flex runs 1.5m, the height can be adjusted by an electrician, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled and blown by hand into a mould, so the depth of the green and the wall thickness change from one shade to the next. The frame and fittings are iron with a brass collar at the neck. The Otoro range runs to nineteen pieces: round and oval shades in small and large, in clear, green, smoke and honey, plus a cluster pendant and four wall lights. Bulbs are not included.

How many will fit over a kitchen island?

At 20.5cm across, three sit comfortably along a standard island. Each comes with its own 1.5m flex and ceiling rose.

Is the chain brass like the clear ones?

No. The green shades come on a black chain and a black ceiling rose 14cm across. The collar at the neck of the shade is brass on both.

How is it different from the large oval?

The large green oval is 48cm long and 31cm across against 30cm and 20.5cm here.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulb cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth in a circular motion. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
