Otoro 2 Light Wall Light - Green

The Otoro double wall light carries two shades: a round brass plate on the wall, two brass arms curving out and down from it, and a flattened round shade of green recycled glass hanging from each on a ribbed brass collar. The glass is a deep olive, thin enough to see the bulb through it, and open at the bottom. It is 20cm tall, 18cm wide and projects 30cm from the wall.

Two bulbs on one plate spread the light wider than a single shade does, and because the glass is coloured the light comes through it warm rather than white. Lit, both bulbs show through the olive. It suits a hallway, a living space or a bedroom. It takes two E14 bulbs up to 25W, it works on a dimmer, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled, crushed and melted, coloured, then blown by hand into a mould, so the depth of the green and the marks in the glass differ from one shade to the next. The metalwork is aluminium under an antique brass finish. The Otoro range runs to nineteen pieces: round and oval shades in small and large, in clear, green, smoke and honey, plus a cluster pendant and four wall lights, of which this is one.

How many bulbs does it take?

Two, one in each shade. They are E14, up to 25W, and no bulbs are included.

Is the bulb visible through the glass?

Yes. The green glass is thin and the shades are open at the bottom, so the bulb shows through and the light comes out warm.

Can it go on a dimmer?

Yes.

Is the green the same on both shades?

Close, but not identical. Each shade is blown by hand into a mould, so the depth of the colour and the small marks in the glass vary.

How do I clean it?

Turn it off, then wipe the glass with a soft dry microfibre cloth, working in circles. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
