Description

A set of sixteen pieces of stainless steel cutlery: four forks, four knives, four dinner spoons and four teaspoons. Each handle tapers from a narrow neck out to a wide flat end and is faceted rather than rounded, so the brushed gold runs pale along the ridges and darker in the planes between them. The heads are left as bare steel, so every piece is gold in the hand and bright silver at the plate. The set arrives in a gift box.

The fork is 21.5cm, the knife 22cm, the dinner spoon 20cm and the teaspoon 13.5cm. Four of each covers a table of four with nothing in reserve, so a table of six or eight takes two sets. The gold handles carry across a table.

Every piece is stainless steel and the handles are forged using traditional techniques, which is what leaves the facets and the uneven surface across them. The gold is brushed on, so its depth varies from piece to piece. The same sixteen piece set is made with a brushed silver finish, and a cheese knife and butter knife pair is made on the same handle.
