Description

Our Ornamentia platter is an oval of stoneware, hand-painted with a row of multicoloured hanging Christmas baubles. Each bauble is tied with a little bow on a long ribbon, over a ground scattered with small dots. It is 32cm long, 19cm wide and 2cm tall, with a shallow raised rim. That makes it a long, narrow serving piece rather than a dinner plate: wide enough for a line of mince pies or biscuits, and slim enough to run down the middle of a laid table. At 0.77KG it is easy to lift and pass along the table.

This is a platter for the Christmas table and the weeks around it. Set it out with biscuits and stollen when friends come for coffee, lay out cheese and crackers for an evening by the fire, or carry warm sausage rolls from the oven to the sideboard. It can go in the oven and the microwave, so you can warm food on it and bring it straight to the table without changing dishes.
