Description
The Orisa is a linen lampshade for a ceiling fitting, 44cm across and 32.5cm tall. It is built as a squat globe from vertical linen panels seamed over a wire frame, so the profile is rounded and faintly ribbed where the panels meet rather than smooth. The linen is off white and loosely woven, with the slub of the fibre visible across the surface. It weighs 0.72kg.
Wider than it is tall, it spreads light sideways as much as down, which suits a room lit from one central point. Over a bed it hangs as a soft round shape seen at close range, and the weave diffuses the bulb without hiding it. It goes onto an existing ceiling pendant, or onto the Otti pendant fitting, so putting it up is a shade change and needs no electrician. It is made for a ceiling fitting only, and is not suitable on a table lamp.
Linen is among the oldest textiles in use, robust and fully recyclable. The fibres are woven first to build the texture, then shaped around the wire frame by hand, so the tension across each panel varies a little and the surface is never mechanically flat. No bulb and no fitting are included.

Frequently Asked
What shape is it?
A squat globe, 44cm across and 32.5cm tall, made from vertical linen panels over a wire frame, so it is wider than it is deep and lightly ribbed at the seams.
Do I need an electrician?
No. It goes onto an existing pendant fitting, or onto a separate pendant fitting if there isn't one in the ceiling.
Is it wide enough for a main light?
Yes. At 44cm it works as a room light, and the wide shallow shape spreads the light more evenly than a deep shade of the same width.
How do I keep it looking right?
Wipe it gently with a microfibre cloth or a duster, holding it by the fitting and keeping off the fabric.
