Description

The Orio is an 84x55cm asymmetrical wall mirror with an organic triangular frame hand-finished in silver leaf over MDF. The frame follows a softly irregular contour that sits somewhere between a teardrop and a stretched triangle, giving the mirror a sculptural presence against flat walls. The bevelled mirror glass adds depth at the edges and the silver leaf finish catches and reflects ambient light across the frame surface.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces where the architecture leans modern or minimal, the Orio works as both a functional mirror and a decorative accent. The asymmetrical shape breaks up visual monotony on plain walls without demanding symmetrical pairing or centred placement. At 84cm height and 3cm depth, the mirror has enough scale to anchor a wall section but projects minimally from the surface, making it suitable for narrower hallways and beside doorways.

The silver leaf is applied by hand in overlapping sections, giving the frame a subtle texture variation that differentiates it from spray-painted metallic finishes. The MDF substrate keeps the overall weight to 6.41kg, which allows the mirror to be mounted on standard plasterboard walls using appropriate fixings without requiring structural reinforcement. The frame can be oriented in multiple positions depending on the wall space and surrounding furniture.

Schuller manufactures the Orio in Spain. The silver leaf finish pairs comfortably with cooler-toned interiors, chrome or brushed nickel fixtures, and grey or white walls. For warmer interiors the same mirror is available in a gold leaf variant.

Can the mirror be hung in different orientations?

Yes. The asymmetrical shape allows the Orio to be rotated and hung in multiple positions depending on the wall space and surrounding decor. There is no single correct orientation.

What wall fixings are needed?

The mirror weighs 6.41kg. On solid walls, use appropriate masonry fixings. On plasterboard walls, use cavity wall anchors rated for at least 10kg to provide a safety margin. The mirror has rear-mounted D-rings or keyhole fittings for hanging.

Is the silver leaf finish durable?

The silver leaf is applied over a sealed MDF base and is durable under normal indoor conditions. Avoid placing the mirror in direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can cause the leaf to oxidise or discolour over time. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth rather than using spray cleaners on the frame.

Is the mirror suitable for bathrooms?

The Orio can be used in bathrooms with adequate ventilation. The MDF frame should not be exposed to prolonged high humidity or direct water spray. It suits powder rooms and bathrooms with extractor fans better than en-suites with poorly ventilated shower enclosures.
