Description

We stock the Onda as a recessed downlight in white for general room lighting. It has a 12W integrated LED behind a frosted diffuser in a white aluminium housing, and the wide 120 degree beam spreads light broadly across the ceiling rather than throwing a tight cone, so it lights a room evenly rather than picking out one spot.

It is made to sit flush into plasterboard or a suspended ceiling, dropping into a cut-out in the ceiling void and held by spring clips that grip the edge of the opening. The 90 CRI rating renders colours accurately, which we find useful in kitchens and dressing areas where getting colours right matters, and the white finish sits cleanly against white or off-white ceilings.

The LED runs on 220-240V 50Hz mains and is dimmable on a compatible LED dimmer, so you can take it from full output down to a low glow. The aluminium housing helps carry heat away from the LED. Its IP20 rating means it is for dry indoor use only, so keep it out of bathroom zones 1 and 2 and any damp or outdoor spot. It carries an energy class of F.

How does it fit into the ceiling?

It recesses into plasterboard or a suspended ceiling. You cut an opening in the ceiling, feed the wiring through, then push the downlight up so the spring clips grip the edge and hold it flush. There needs to be enough clear void above for the housing.

Is it dimmable?

Yes. The integrated 12W LED dims on a compatible LED dimmer (sold separately), so you can set it from full brightness down to a soft glow. Dimming smoothness depends on the dimmer, so we would check the two are matched before you fit it.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Only in a dry area. It is rated IP20, which is for indoor dry spaces, so it should not go in bathroom zones 1 or 2 or anywhere damp or outdoors. It suits living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and hallways.

What sort of light does it give?

A broad, even wash. The 12W LED throws a wide 120 degree beam so it lights a whole zone rather than a narrow spot, which makes it a good choice for general room lighting rather than accent work. The 90 CRI keeps colours looking true.
