Description

The Olani bathroom hooks come as a set of three, each one a cast ring with a small backplate at its centre and a short peg standing forward from it to take the weight. The three are graduated, largest to smallest, so they hang as a stepped group rather than a matched row. The rings are not truly round and the metal is uneven all over: the casting is done in sand, which does not hold a sharp edge, and the surface comes out rough. Each backplate carries a single fixing hole.

These are made for a bathroom. They are designed to resist moisture and steam, which is what the stainless steel and the lacquer over it are for, and they are suitable for bathroom use. Each one takes a towel, and the three go up at different heights. One fixing hole each means they can be placed by eye rather than to a line, two close together and one apart.

Each hook is cast stainless steel and then finished antique brass. Because the sand mould gives way as the metal fills it, the patination falls irregularly across the surface and no two hooks in a set carry the same marks. The three sizes arrive together as one set.
