Description

The Olaia is a 3-light bar pendant built around three smoked glass cylinder shades suspended from a 57cm matt black rectangular ceiling plate. Each shade houses a GX53 6W LED disc (included), casting warm 3000K light through the smoked glass to create a diffused glow rather than direct illumination. The metal framework and all visible fixings are finished in matt black, matching the smoke tone of the glass.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars where linear task and ambient lighting is needed, the Olaia's 57cm span suits island widths of 90-150cm and table lengths of 140-180cm. The adjustable drop ranges from 25cm minimum to 110cm maximum, allowing the pendant to be set 65-75cm above a worktop or 70-80cm above a dining table depending on ceiling height. The compact 13cm depth of each shade keeps the fitting unobtrusive in kitchens with wall-mounted cabinets opposite the island.

The smoked glass cylinders are translucent rather than opaque, showing a gradient from darker at the rim to lighter towards the centre when lit. This softens the light output and reduces glare compared to clear glass, making the Olaia suitable for positions where the pendants sit within the sightline of seated diners or workers at a counter. The 1.75kg total weight and Class 1 earthed construction make the fitting suitable for standard UK ceiling roses with no additional structural support needed.

Are the LED units replaceable?

Yes. The Olaia uses three GX53 6W LED discs which twist-lock into the lampholders. If a unit fails, replacement GX53 LEDs are available separately from Niori and most lighting suppliers.

What size kitchen island or table does it suit?

The 57cm bar span works over island widths of 90-150cm and dining table lengths of 140-180cm. For longer islands or tables, consider pairing two Olaia pendants end-to-end with a gap of 40-60cm between their ceiling plates.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The cables can be shortened during installation by looping excess cable inside the ceiling plate, but lengthening after installation requires removing the fitting and re-threading the cables. Set the desired drop height during the initial fitting.

Is the smoked glass dark enough to hide the bulbs?

The smoked glass is translucent, not opaque. The GX53 LED discs are visible through the glass when unlit, and the glass diffuses the light when on rather than fully obscuring the source. This is intentional to the design and reduces direct glare.
