Description

Twelve small glass baubles in a five-pointed star shape rather than a sphere, each 3cm across and hung from its own printed sari ribbon. The finish is matt and mottled, and the colours run amber, teal, red, pale blue, green, purple and brown, so no two in the set repeat. Each star carries a small metal cap and ring at the top, and the ribbon is tied through the ring.

Twelve is enough to carry a small tree on their own, or to fill in between larger decorations on a full-height one. The matt finish takes light rather than throwing it back, so against a lit tree they read as colour instead of as points of reflection, and the star holds its outline at a distance where a small sphere would not.

The stars are recycled glass. The waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown, which is what leaves the irregular mottling on every one. Each ribbon is cut from a different length of printed sari fabric, so no two sets are alike. Oko also runs the mini baubles in a round shape as a set of twelve, and the same baubles made up as a 150cm garland and a 20cm wreath.
