Description

A glass bauble 20cm across, deep enough in colour to read closer to wine than to red. Grey and near black clouding lies over most of the sphere and breaks across the bordeaux underneath it, so very little of the surface is one flat tone. A patterned iron collar caps the neck, with a ring on top and a printed fabric tie run through the ring.

Twenty centimetres is wide enough that a bauble stops being a tree decoration. At 0.61kg it asks for a hook in a beam, a curtain pole or a stair rail rather than a branch, and hung on its tie it falls well below whatever carries it.

Recycled glass, blown by hand, with an iron collar. The waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is blown, and the mottling that follows is never repeated, which is why this one is heavily clouded where the next may be clearer. The Oko giant baubles are made at 15cm and at 20cm, in bordeaux, green, gold and teal.
