Description

The Oculus Droplet is a 90x60cm frameless wall mirror cut into a wide teardrop shape with a bevelled edge around the entire perimeter. The all-glass construction uses 2cm-thick mirror glass without a backing frame, so the mirror itself forms both the reflective surface and the structural element that hangs on the wall.

Designed for hallways, bathrooms, bedrooms and above console tables or washbasins, the teardrop profile provides a larger reflective area than circular or oval mirrors of similar maximum width while introducing a vertical axis that draws the eye upward. The 90cm height suits wall spaces with 2.4m or higher ceilings, and the 60cm width provides enough reflection for full-torso viewing when mounted at typical mirror height (1.5-1.7m floor to centre).

The bevelled edge is ground and polished at an angle around the entire circumference, creating a subtle prismatic effect at the border where light refracts through the angled glass. This bevelling also strengthens the edge against minor impacts. The 9kg weight requires two wall fixings spaced 40-50cm apart vertically on the rear, suitable for masonry, plasterboard with cavity fixings, or stud walls with direct fixing into timber.

What fixings are included?

Most frameless mirrors in this category ship with metal hanging plates on the rear and basic wall screws. For the 9kg weight of the Oculus Droplet, use wall plugs rated to 15kg minimum in masonry, or toggle/cavity fixings rated to 20kg in plasterboard. Check the packaging on delivery for the specific fixings supplied.

Can it be hung in a bathroom?

Yes. Mirror glass is inherently moisture-resistant. Ensure the wall fixings are rust-proof (stainless steel or brass) if mounting in a wet area such as directly above a bath or within a shower zone. Keep the bevelled edge dry after installation to prevent water pooling at the joint with the wall.

How is the mirror cleaned?

Wipe with a lint-free microfibre cloth and glass cleaner or a 50/50 distilled water and white vinegar solution. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth rather than directly onto the mirror to prevent drips running behind the edge. Avoid abrasive cloths or scouring pads, which will scratch the reflective coating.
