Our Nonnie storage jar is a round mango wood canister with a lift-off lid topped by a generous ring handle, the kind you can hook a finger through without fumbling. It holds 500ml and stands 18cm tall and 11.5cm across, so it sits comfortably on a worktop or open shelf without crowding it. Mango is a hardwood with a lively, varied grain, and here that grain runs in bands: the body is built up from blocks of wood joined around the middle, so no two blocks read quite the same shade of brown.

It belongs in the kitchen, where 500ml is a practical size for the things you reach for every day: coffee beans, sugar, salt, loose tea or tea bags.
