Description
A quilted bedspread measuring 220 by 240cm, with a cotton velvet face in a dusty pink and a plain natural linen reverse. The quilting is Kantha, a running stitch worked by hand in close parallel lines across the whole spread, which draws the velvet into soft ridges and leaves the surface rumpled rather than flat. A contrast stitch runs on the linen side, and the two faces sit at opposite ends of the same palette, one warm and napped, the other pale and dry.
At 220 by 240cm this is sized for a King bed, with the 240cm running across the width so the spread drapes at both sides. On a Super King it can be turned so the 240cm runs head to foot and the drape falls at the end instead. Laid over a bed, the linen side folds back at the head. The velvet face takes the light and the linen face does not, so the spread reads differently depending on which way up it goes.
The face is cotton velvet and the reverse is linen. The Kantha stitching is sewn by hand, so the run of the lines and the depth of the ridges differ from one spread to the next. The Nidra range is made in this 220 by 240cm size and in 220 by 140cm, and in rust, charcoal, moss, sage green, natural and this dusty pink.

Frequently Asked
What size bed does it fit?
It measures 220 by 240cm and is sized for a King. On a Super King, turn it so the 240cm runs head to foot for a longer drape at the end.
What is each side made from?
Cotton velvet on the face and natural linen on the reverse.
What is Kantha stitching?
A running stitch worked by hand in close parallel lines. It is what gives the surface its ridged texture.
Is it the same on both sides?
No. The velvet face is dusty pink and the linen reverse is natural, so it can be used either way up.
How do I wash it?
Follow the care label. The temperature shown on it is the maximum the bedding will take, and a lower one does the job on less energy. Line drying gives the best result, or tumble dry on low and take it out promptly. The fabric softens with every wash, and a gentle fabric softener can be used now and then.
