Description

The Niche is a 100cm circular LED suspension light with a powder-coated white metal frame and an integrated 46W LED strip running the full circumference of the ring. An opal rubber diffuser wraps around the inside edge of the frame, turning the entire 1-metre ring into a continuous light source that casts soft, even 3000K illumination downwards and outwards.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas, the Niche sits 600-900mm above a work surface or dining table depending on ceiling height and the length of the suspension cables. The 2150mm steel cable drop is adjustable on installation, and the ceiling bracket mounts to standard UK ceiling roses. The IP20 rating limits the Niche to dry indoor environments — living rooms, dining rooms, offices and hallways — but not bathrooms, outdoor areas or unheated outbuildings.

The 20mm-deep profile keeps the visual presence minimal when viewed from the side, while the 1005mm outer diameter provides enough light distribution to cover a 1.6-2m dining table or a 2-2.5m kitchen island without needing multiple pendants. The white powder-coated finish on the metal frame pairs with neutral, Scandi and contemporary interiors, and the opal diffuser hides the LED strip itself so there's no visible point-source glare.

The Niche is non-dimmable and runs directly from 230V mains without requiring a separate driver. The integrated LED is rated for 30,000 hours at typical domestic use (approximately 10-12 years at 8 hours per day), and Ideal Lux backs the fitting with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

The cable length is set during installation by feeding the excess cable into the ceiling bracket housing. Once the bracket is fixed and the ceiling cover is clipped on, adjusting the height requires removing the ceiling cover and re-feeding the cable — this is straightforward but not something you'd do regularly.

What colour temperature is the LED?

The integrated LED is 3000K, which produces warm white light similar to a traditional halogen or incandescent bulb. This temperature suits residential interiors, dining areas and spaces where a relaxed atmosphere is preferred over clinical bright white.
