Description
The Ngolo is a hand blown tealight holder, 9cm tall and 9cm across, with a rounded body that draws in slightly towards the base and a rim left uneven where the glass was worked. The upper two thirds carry a deep amber, mottled rather than flat, and the lower third turns to a cloudy off white flecked with rust, with a soft band where one runs into the other. The wall is thick and the surface is textured rather than smooth.
Lit, it is the amber that glows. The tealight sits low in the body and the light comes out through the upper wall, while the pale base stays opaque and holds the colour up off the table. That makes it a holder to be looked at from the side rather than down into, so a table, a sideboard or a mantelpiece rather than a high shelf. The small stands 9cm, the medium 13cm and the large 16cm.
The glass is recycled and every holder is blown by hand, so the height of the colour break, the pattern of the mottling and the line of the rim all differ from one to the next. The amber is one of two colourways in the Ngolo range; the other is an aged smoke, which runs in the same three sizes and also as a vase, a wine cooler and baubles. A tealight is not included.

Frequently Asked
How big is the small Ngolo?
9cm tall and 9cm across. The medium is 13cm and the large is 16cm.
Is the glass recycled?
Yes. Each holder is blown by hand from recycled glass.
Will every holder look the same?
Not exactly. Each one is blown singly, so the amber, the mottling and the height at which the colour changes differ from holder to holder.
How do I look after it?
Wash it with a mild dish soap and warm water after each use so that wax does not build up, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from the surface.
Does it get hot in use?
Yes. Stand the tealight securely and keep the flame away from the glass wall. Keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
