Description
The large Nesda is a hand blown glass holder 13cm tall and 13cm across, a rounded beaker that pulls in at the shoulder and opens out again at the rim. That rim is left uneven on purpose, dipping and rising around the circle, with a thin line of bare glass along the edge where the frosting stops. The surface is granular rather than smooth, and the tone shifts across a single piece from near black through a smoke brown to a pale bronze.
At 13cm this is the bigger of the two Nesda holders, and the deeper wall sets the flame further down inside it, so more of the light comes out through the glass than over the rim. It takes a tealight, exactly as the 9cm holder does, so the two stand together at two heights with the same flame in each. It suits a mantelpiece, a hearth or a run down the centre of a table.
The glass is recycled: waste glass collected, washed to take out impurities, crushed, melted and then blown into a simple mould, with a smoke brown antique finish applied afterwards. Because the mould is plain and the work is done by hand, the line of the rim, the thickness of the wall and the depth of the finish are different on every holder. Tealights are not included.

Frequently Asked
How big is it?
13cm tall and 13cm across. The small Nesda holder is 9 by 9cm.
What candle does it take?
A tealight, which is not included.
Will every holder look the same?
No. Each is blown by hand into a plain mould, so the uneven rim, the wall thickness and the depth of the finish come out differently every time.
Does it get hot in use?
Yes. Seat the tealight securely and keep the flame off the side of the glass, keep it out of reach of children, let it cool fully before you handle it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
How do I look after it?
Lift any dust with a dry soft cloth and handle it carefully. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it, as they damage the finish. Indoor use only.
