Description

A vase, 41cm tall, in natural. At 35cm wide it is about the width of a laptop. Vases group better than they stand alone. Three of different heights in the same material read as a collection, where three of the same height read as stock.

Natural sits with almost anything, which is the practical argument for it: it does not commit the room to a colour scheme the way a painted finish does. Art Deco is a geometry rather than a colour: stepped lines, fans and hard symmetry. It sits deliberately against plain modern walls and comfortably in a period room, which is why the style has outlasted several revivals of it. Composite stone is mineral powder bound in resin, cast rather than carved. It gives the weight, the cool touch and the matt surface of quarried stone in a form that can be moulded into shapes stone cannot.

At 4kg it is heavy enough to stand on the floor without being knocked over by a passing foot.

Weight is worth a thought with anything tall. A light vase with a heavy arrangement in it is a spill waiting for a passing sleeve.
