Description

The Nalgonda is a lamp base made as two cones meeting at their widest point, the upper one the longer of the two, with a raised rim running right round the join where the halves are soldered. The rim is left showing rather than filed back, and it wavers as it goes round. Fine dots are punched into the iron in horizontal bands over the whole body, and the antique brass finish sits darker inside each mark than on the surface between them. A short punched neck, a turned brass collar and a black lampholder finish the top. It is 33cm tall and 20cm across at the widest.

This is a base only: no shade and no bulb. At 33cm it is the smaller of the two Nalgonda bases, the other being 45cm tall and 31cm across, and at that height it takes a bedside table or a narrow console without blocking what is behind it. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, the cord runs 2.5m, the plug is UK and EU, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The body is iron under an antique brass finish, and the pattern is punched into the metal rather than printed onto it, so it can be felt as well as seen. Neither a shade nor a bulb is included; the Dia jute shade is sold separately.
