Description

The Mutti is an egg 16cm tall and 9.5cm across, standing upright on its broader end. It comes apart at a seam a little below the middle: the lower half is a deep open bowl with a plain raised collar inside it, and the upper half is a hollow dome that sits down over that collar. The whole outside carries a close, regular pattern of small stamped squares, crosses and dashes set in rows, worked over an antique brass finish so the marks catch the light while the ground between them stays a soft gold.

The space inside the lower half takes sweets, chocolate or a small gift. At 16cm it stands on a table on its own rather than needing a display around it. Closed it reads as one solid object; open it is a lidded bowl.

The egg is aluminium, cut from sheet and formed by traditional metalworking, and the surface is worked by hand, so the pattern falls a little differently on every one. Indoor use only, and this is not a toy. The egg is supplied empty.
