Description

A wall mirror 60cm tall and 53cm wide, with an arched top and square lower corners. The frame is sand cast aluminium finished in antique brass, and the casting is left textured: the face carries a fine irregular grain and shallow ripples that take the light differently all the way round the arch. The frame is narrow in proportion to the glass, and the whole thing stands 3cm off the wall.

The mirror hangs from a single keyhole plate set into the back at the top of the arch, so it goes up on one fixing. Hung above a plain wood console, the arch sits at about head height. At 60cm by 53cm it holds the wall above a narrow console or a chest of drawers without running the full width of it.

The frame is aluminium and the glass is plain mirror. Molten aluminium is poured into a sand mould, which is where the texture across the face comes from, and the antique brass is a finish worked over the casting rather than the metal itself. Because every frame is cast in sand, the grain falls differently on each one. The Murwara range runs from this size up through a larger wall mirror to arched and full length mirrors.
