Description

The Murwara is a wall mirror in a tall arch, 93cm high and 61cm wide, in a frame of sand-cast aluminium finished antique brass. The frame is a flat band of even width running up one side, round the head of the arch and down the other, with the glass set inside it. The casting leaves the surface uneven: shallow pits, faint ridges, and regular horizontal seams where one section of the frame meets the next, all of it visible across the face. The brass reads warm gold, darker in the hollows.

At 93cm tall and 61cm wide this is the large of two sizes. Hung above a sideboard, the arch clears the surface and fills the wall above it. It is 3cm deep, so it stands off the wall by little more than the frame. It weighs 7.78kg and is made to hang.

The frame is cast aluminium and the glass is plain mirror. Sand casting gives every frame its own surface, so the pits, the ridges and the faint lines of the mould fall differently on each one. The range runs to two sizes of this mirror and the antique brass finish is the same on both.

Aluminium, sand cast and finished in antique brass.
